CENTAURUS APPOINTS ATLAS IRON EXECUTIVE MARK HANCOCK AS A NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

International iron ore company Centaurus Metals Ltd (ASX Code: CTM ) is pleased to announce the appointment of experienced mining executive Mr Mark Hancock to its Board as a non-executive Director, representing its new major shareholder, Atlas Iron Limited (ASX: AGO).

The appointment of Mr Hancock follows the receipt of shareholder approval for Atlas Iron’s strategic alliance and 19.9% investment in Centaurus. Mr Hancock is Atlas Iron’s Chief Commercial Officer.

Shareholders yesterday approved Tranche 2 of the share placement to Atlas Iron with the shares and options to be issued for this Tranche early next week. As part of the strategic alliance and investment, Atlas is entitled to nominate one person to the Board.

Commenting on the appointment, Centaurus’ Managing Director, Mr Darren Gordon said: “ Mark has been an instrumental part of Atlas Iron’s success and growth over the last three years and we are delighted to have him join the Centaurus Board. We look forward to working with Mark and drawing upon his extensive experience in the iron ore sector to assist in growing our iron ore business in Brazil.”

Mr Hancock is a Chartered Accountant with more than 25 years professional experience, including senior financial roles across a number of leading Australian and international companies including Lend Lease Corporation Ltd, Woodside Petroleum Ltd and Premier Oil plc.

Since 2006, he has held senior roles at Atlas Iron Ltd, most recently as Chief Commercial Officer. In this role Mr Hancock has overseen the roll out of Atlas’ iron ore off-take arrangements and been in charge of all financial aspects of the Company’s development.

Mr Hancock has served as Atlas’ representative on a number of other Boards including previously listed ASX iron ore players Warwick Resources, Aurox Resources and Giralia Resources. He is currently Atlas’ representative on the Board of FerrAus Limited.
