Appointment of Chief Operating Officer & Corporate Counsel
The directors of Gulf Resources Limited are pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Johnstone as Chief Operating Officer and Chandlers International Lawyers as Corporate Counsel, with Mark Treisman as the partner assigned to Gulf.
Chairman, Scott Reid, commenting on the appointments said “We are delighted to have someone of Andrew’s experience and knowledge join the company in the role of Chief Operating Officer. His practical operational experience in the resource sector combined with his financial qualifications will greatly assist the company.”
He further commented, “The confirmation of law firm, Chandlers International, as Corporate Counsel for the company, rounds out the company’s legal and financial credentials”.

Andrew Johnstone is a geoscientist/manager with over 15 years experience in successful exploration, resource assessment and resource development. During his tenure with BHP/Billiton, the Northern Territory Geological Survey, Discovery Metals Limited and Proto Resources & Investments Limited, Andrew gained experience in a wide variety of geological and virtually all hard rock commodities. While at Discovery Metals, Andrew made a significant contribution to the acquisition of the Maun Copper Project in Botswana and the Barnes Hill Nickel Laterite in Tasmania. He has a wide knowledge of global geology and exploration techniques, especially geophysics, now driving many exploration programs. When combined with advanced finance training and exposure to project development in Australia, Asia/Pacific, Africa and Europe, he brings to Gulf experience and energy to help drive exploration programs; identify, assess and acquire new opportunities; and manage development of advanced projects.

Mark Treisman is a corporate and commercial lawyer. Mark’s particular expertise is in takeovers, mergers and acquisitions, listings of corporations on the ASX, secondary listings on other international securities exchanges and general IPOs. His representative experience includes advising the largest industrial company in South Africa on its international unbundling of assets, and its use of international derivative securities. Mark advises several listed Australian companies on the corporate and commercial law aspects of their domestic and international operations, including acquisitions, joint ventures and fund raising. Mark was responsible for advising an Asian energy provider on its issue of Sovereign Eurobonds, has advised the ASX with respect to its regulation of derivative securities and has been a lead adviser to Governments in respect of Financial Market Reform, including drafting legislation establishing an Offshore Financial Centre. Mark has lectured in law and is one of the founding members of the Australian board of Tusk Trust, an international charity in support of environment and wildlife conservation throughout Africa.
