IEC DECEMBER UPDATE

  • Improved Sales tonnage in December

  • Coal Stockpile Maintained for Rainy Season

  • Production steady although impacted by heavy rain

Intra Energy Corporation Limited ("IEC" or "the Company") is pleased to announce that Tancoal Energy Limited (IEC 70% and National Development Corporation of Tanzania 30%) recorded sales in December 2017 that were back to near record levels. Sales were 47,617 tonnes compared to 38,877 tonnes in December 2016. YTD sales are 258,253 tonnes compared to 171,452 tonnes in the prior year. Sales were higher than November 2017 as customers found it easier to hire trucks to pick up the coal.

Production for December 2017 was 49,837 tonnes, compared to 38,601 tonnes in December 2016. YTD production is 290,688 tonnes compared to 179,280 tonnes in the prior year.

The stockpile for the rainy season was increased to 43,000 tonnes, keeping in line with Government requirements for surplus stock to avoid any disruption to industrial supply.

The new crusher and four stackers have arrived at the Kitai sales point. The crusher will begin operating during January 2018 after the manufacturer has done the commissioning work. The commissioning of the crusher at the Kitai sales point will increase the overall efficiency of the mining operation and enable the mine to supply the sized coal in demand by East African customers with a reduced percentage of fines produced in the process.

The increase in prices that has taken effect over the previous few months and the improvement in mining efficiency resulted in another small profit in November 2017.

IEC Chairman, Graeme Robertson, commented "It is good to note that the Company is in a better position to supply higher tonnages of coal than ever before. The new crusher operation will continue to improve coal

supply efficiency and customer specifications. With trucks enabled to haul trailers for better coal payloads will enable more competitive road haulage for regional and export trade for Tanzania."
