Appointment of Director – Gideon Nasari

It is both an honour and a pleasure to welcome Mr. Gideon John Nasari to the Board of Intra Energy Corporation Limited (ASX:IEC) as a Non-Executive Director.

The Chairman of IEC, Graeme Robertson, welcomed the appointment by commenting,

“Gideon's background is quite exceptional. He was born in Arusha, Tanzania, where he undertook his primary and secondary education. Gideon carried out his initial tertiary studies in Moscow, where he obtained a M.Sc. in Mining Geology from Patrice Lumumba University. This was followed by an MBA from the University of London’s Imperial College School of Management. Additionally, he has attended postgraduate studies in Management, Leadership, Corporate Governance, Finance and Mining Technology.”

Gideon is currently the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Development Corporation (NDC), a statutory organisation wholly owned by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania with the mandate to implement strategic industrial development projects in partnership with the private sector.

Gideon has more than 30 years experience in mining, manufacturing and leadership. He has served as Manager, Deputy General Manager of Tanzania Portland Cement Co. Ltd and later as Executive Director, Corporate Affairs in 1998, having risen through the ranks from a Mining Geologist in 1978. In 2007, the President of the United Republic of Tanzania appointed him to his current position.

Gideon has served on the Boards of various institutions and companies and currently holds the following positions - NDC (Executive Director), TANELEC Ltd (Non-Executive Director), Occupational Safety and Health Authority (Board Chairman) and Southern Africa Development Community - Development Finance Resource Centre (Non-Executive Director), Geothermal Power Tanzania Ltd (Non-Executive Director) as well as being the Chairman of the Board of Tancoal Energy Limited, a subsidiary of IEC. He is also Chairman of the Public Private Partnership (PPP) Working Group on Infrastructure of the Tanzania National Business Council (TNBC).

Graeme further commented, “We have had the opportunity to observe Gideon's professionalism in his role with NDC, as well as with Tancoal, and believe his involvement with IEC will only benefit the Group's development as a significant coal miner and electricity generator in Eastern Africa.”
