Knighthood for BCL Chairman Mel Togolo

Bougainville Copper Limited is proud to confirm that company chairman Mel Togolo has been knighted by the Queen.

Mr Togolo was awarded Knight Bachelor in the 2018 Queen’s Birthday Honours List for his service to economic development, particularly in the mining and petroleum sectors, and to the community. He is only the fifth Bougainvillean to have received such an honor.

The award is a wonderful acknowledgement of the remarkable contribution Mr Togolo has made in PNG over more than four decades.

Mr Togolo is a well-respected figure in PNG and Bougainville and this honor is richly deserved. He continues to work tirelessly for the benefit of industry and the community in various capacities, and in particular as chairman of Bougainville Copper Ltd, where he is providing tremendous guidance and leadership.

In 2004 Mr Togolo was awarded Commander of the British Empire (CBE) for services to industry and commerce.
