Åke Roos – new General Manager for Boliden Rönnskär

Åke Roos has been appointed General Manager for Boliden Rönnskär, succeeding Roger Sundqvist who has decided to leave Boliden. Åke Roos will take up his position on 2nd September, 2013.

Åke has extensive experience from the metal business. He joins Boliden from Sandvik where he has held different positions between 1988 and 2013, most recently as Vice President of Sandvik Rock Tools. He has also been Vice President of Sandvik Mining and Construction as well as Global Research and Development Manager.

Åke holds a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Luleå University of Technology and a Technology Licentiate from Uppsala University. He will take up his new position on 2nd September and will report to Kerstin Konradsson, President Boliden Smelters.

"I welcome Åke to Boliden. Our business is in for many challenges and I look forward to adding his experience not only to Rönnskär but also to the Smelters management team," Kerstin Konradsson says.

Roger Sundqvist has been with Boliden for over 35 years and has held several different posts. For the last eleven years he has been General Manager for Rönnskär. He has played a vital role in the development of present-day Rönnskär and in making Boliden a world-leader in escrap recycling. Boliden's Management would like to take this opportunity to thank Roger for his valuable contributions during his time at Boliden and wish him all the best in the future.
