ASX ANNOUNCEMENT (ASX: BRU) 28 September 2011
COMMENCEMENT OF DRILLING OPERATIONS LAWFORD-1 DEEPENING
Buru Energy Limited (“ Buru ” or “ Company ”) advises that drilling operations to deepen the Lawford-1 well commenced at 20:30hrs, 27 September 2011 (AWST).
The Lawford-1 well is located in EP 417. Buru has a 35% non-operating interest in this permit. New Standard Onshore Pty Ltd (a wholly owned subsidiary of New Standard Energy Ltd) (“ New Standard ”) is operator of EP 417 and has the remaining 65% interest. Buru will be the operator for the deepening of the well for the EP 417 joint venture under a delegation agreement with New Standard. Green Rock Energy Limited has a right to earn up to 20% from New Standard’s interest.
Lawford-1 was originally drilled by New Standard in 2008 but the well was suspended at 1,323m, above the Laurel Formation objective, due to weather issues. The well has the potential for large volumes of conventional gas and is also an important test of the regional Laurel Formation unconventional potential.
The well will be deepened to a total depth of 2,780m and is expected to take 13 days to drill on a dry hole basis.[1] The well is being drilled by Century Rig #7.
The first drilling progress report for the well is attached. During the course of drilling operations, drilling progress reports will be provided to the ASX each Thursday and as required upon the occurrence of any material event. The Company expects to issue the next drilling progress report on 6 October 2011 unless a material event occurs in the interim.
Further information on the Company is available at: www.buruenergy.com
