The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Bechtle exceeds expectations in the 1. quarter Bechtle AG, the biggest trust-independent- IT-service-provider of Germany, is situated over plan in the first quarter 2001: With an EBT increase around 246 per cent and an increase in sales of 52 per cent the strong upswing at the end of the last financial year also has continued also in the 1. quarter 2001. With it the prognosis for the whole year, proceeding from a duplication of profit before taxation (EBT) on 32 million Marks and an increase in sales of 26 per cent to 1.2 billion Marks, is strengthened clearly. In this way, Bechtle could emphasize itself significantly from the market. Risen profitable deals are very considerable: The EBITDA increased by 41 per cent with 9.88 million Marks in the first quarter 2001 opposite to 7.01 million Marks in the first quarter of the previous year. The EBT was increased by 246 per cent on 6.00 million Marks in comparison with the first three months of the previous year. Sales grew up by 52 per cent from 181 million Marks to 276 million Marks. Without the enterprises belonging to the Bechtle company in the first quarter of the previous year as well as the enterprises acquired in the first quarter 2001, there is a strong internal growth of 39 per cent, which is situated clearly over the growth of the market. end of ad hoc announcement (c) DGAP 29.05.2001 Issuer’s information/explanatory remarks concerning this ad hoc announcement: The segment results underline the successful position as a service provider: The europeanwide sales were improved by around 117 per cent from 29 million marks to 63 million marks in the eCommerce segment. There is a strong internal growth of 72 per cent, without the eCommerce enterprises, which were aquired in 2000. This new companies contributed sales of 13 million Marks for the first quarter. In this segment the EBITDA grew up in relation to the comparison period of the previous year by 24 per cent to 1.89 million Marks, the EBIT from 1.30 million to 1.52 million Marks. A strong growth by own strength is indicating the system integration segment, too. Sales of 213 million Marks increased by 40 per cent in comparison to 152 million Marks of the first quarter of the previous year. The new enterprises, which did not belong in the first quarter of the previous year to the Bechtle company, contributed 9 million Mark as well as the enterprises acquired in the first quarter 2001with 3 million to the sales of the first quarter 2001. The result is an internal growth of 32 per cent. Only 8 per cent are made by the new firms. The EBITDA improved by 31 per cent from 5.48 million to 7.98 million Marks. The EBIT grew up very strongly by 120 per cent from 1.61 million Marks to 3.54 million Marks in the first quarter 2001. Due to a sophisticated logistic concept, Bechtle is able to get attractive margins by it is transactions. There are also positive effects by transferring this business models to the new companies: The acquisition of the TDS infrastructure service GmbH with sales of 95 million Marks strengthens trade and also service in Germany. An important step for the development of an European top place, was the initiated aquisition of Action Computer Supplies S.A.. This is the Spanish market leader in IT eCommerce with sales of 65 million Marks and clearly positive results.
