  1. Based on the 52 week FY2013 Pro Forma Historical result in the Prospectus dated 12 March 2014

Beacon Lighting Group Limited (“the Company”) (ASX:BLX) today announced a Net Profit After Tax (NPAT) result of $11.8m for the 52 weeks ending 29 June 2014, an increase of $2.3m or 24.8% ahead of the 52 comparable weeks last year and ahead of the Prospectus forecast NPAT of $11.5m. Throughout FY2014, the Company has continued to trade strongly with solid comparative sales and record profit results.

Sales increased by 13.1% to $150.3m as a result of new store openings, comparative company store sales growth, wholesale sales to franchise stores and the combined sales of Beacon Lighting Commercial Division and emerging businesses. Key to the FY2014 total sales increase was the company store comparative sales growth of 5.7%.

The gross profit margins in FY2014 were consistent with the gross profit margins in FY2013 through effective management of retail prices and the introduction of new technically advanced and fashion orientated lighting, ceiling fans and globes. Operating expenses (excluding depreciation and amortisation) were well managed, falling 0.73% of sales.

Store Growth

Beacon Lighting opened 6 new stores, purchased the Taren Point (NSW) franchised store, relocated an existing store and merged one commercial sales office back into the retail network. The new stores that opened in FY2014 were Baldivis (WA), Kawana (QLD), McGraths Hill (NSW), Noarlunga (SA), Toowoomba (QLD) and Bendigo (VIC).

Outlook

Looking forward to FY2015, Beacon Lighting key growth strategies remain consistent. These include new store rollouts, optimising the store portfolio and operations, introducing new product ranges and leveraging new technology and fashion in lighting, ceiling fans and globes to be first to market. The company aims to enhance our online activities, leverage existing capabilities, actively look at acquisitions, support our emerging business and generate efficiency gains to ensure continued growth.

Beacon Lighting is looking forward to another successful year in FY2015.
