Beach Energy Limited TRADING HALT

The securities of Beach Energy Limited (the “Company”) will be placed in Trading Halt Session State at the request of the Company, pending the release of an announcement by the Company. Unless ASX decides otherwise, the securities will remain in Trading Halt Session State until the commencement of normal trading on Thursday, 29 March 2012.

Dear Sir,

REQUEST FOR TRADING HALT

Beach Energy Limited (ASX: BPT, "Beach") requests an immediate trading halt be granted by the Australian Securities Exchange ( ASX ) with respect to its ordinary shares.

The trading halt is requested pending the announcement by Beach of the outcome of a proposed capital raising which will commence today.

In accordance with ASX Listing Rule 17.1 Beach advises:

1. the trading halt is necessary for Beach to make an announcement to the market in relation to a capital raising involving retail and institutional investors;

2. the trading halt should remain in place until the commencement of trading on Thursday 29 March 2012 unless before that time it makes an announcement regarding the capital raising or requests that the trading halt be lifted; and

3. it is not aware of any reason why the trading halt should not be granted or of any other information necessary to inform the market about the trading halt.
