BASIC-FIT OPENS ITS 1000TH CLUB
Milestone reached by Europe's largest fitness chain
Hoofddorp, 05 October 2021 – Basic-Fit's 1000th club officially opens its doors today. A milestone for Europe's largest and fastest growing fitness chain, whose adventure started in the Netherlands more than 35 years ago. The club is opened in the country where it all started: the Netherlands. In honour of the 1000th club, members and employees will be sharing their own (sport-related) milestones via #BasicFitMilestone, which they have accomplished through determination, discipline and endurance.
WORKING OUT: A BASIC NECESSITY
CEO René Moos: "We are extremely proud to open our 1000th location. It is a milestone that we owe to our loyal members and employees, without whom this could not be possible. As soon as we were allowed to reopen after the lockdown, the number of memberships increased enormously in a short period of time. It really confirms the significant role we have in society. Working out is a basic necessity and we are glad to help people to maintain their health in a safe and responsible environment. We will continue to grow and work towards our goal of 1250 clubs by the end of 2022."

ALWAYS A PLACE TO WORKOUT
Basic-Fit has grown expansively over the past few years, starting from a handful of clubs leading up to two million members and a 1000 locations in over five countries: the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France and Spain. Some clubs have very unique locations, such as old churches, factories, or even at professional football stadiums like PSV Eindhoven. In addition, 200 clubs are open 24/7.
Together, the 6000 employees ensure that members can work on their health in a safe and responsible environment. Working out is possible anytime, anywhere via the innovative app, which appeared a useful stimulus during the lockdown. Nonetheless, following the re-opening of the gyms in 2020, there have been over 33 million club visits.
Redouane Zekkri, who has been with Basic-Fit since 2008 and now COO, is thrilled: "Our Basic-Fit community has grown expansively over the last few years. As market leader, we are proud to have passed this milestone. Getting fit is more important than ever and people are becoming increasingly aware of its benefits. Working out is essential and we are glad to contribute."
