Notification of voting rights pursuant to § 21 para 1 WpHG

Issuer: BASF SE, Carl-Bosch-Straße 38, 67056 Ludwigshafen, Germany

On April 29, 2014, we received the following notification pursuant to § 21
para 1 WpHG:

On April 25, 2014, the percentage holding of the voting rights of the State
of Norway, represented by the Ministry of Finance, Oslo, Norway, in BASF SE
fell below the threshold of 3 % and amounts indirectly to 2.93 % (26883873
voting rights) on that day. These voting rights (26883873 voting rights)
are attributed to the State of Norway pursuant to § 22 para 1 sentence 1
no. 1 WpHG.
