Frankfurt, Germany, in BASF SE exceeded the threshold of 3 % and amounts to
3.33 % (30560397 voting rights) on that day.

1. On April 29, 2013 we received the following notification pursuant to §
   25 para 1 WpHG:

On April 23, 2013, the percentage holding of the voting rights of SEB AG,
Frankfurt, Germany, in BASF SE exceeded the threshold of 5% and amounts to
5.49 % (50382513 voting rights) on that day. Thereof, 2.16 % (19822116
voting rights) are instruments pursuant to § 25 WpHG and 3.33 % (30560397
