in the name and on behalf of AXA S.A., 25, Avenue Matignon, 75008 Paris,
France,

as follows:

On January 2, 2009 the share of AXA S.A., 25, Avenue Matignon, 75008 Paris,
France, of the voting rights in BASF SE fell below the threshhold of 5% of
the voting rihts in BASF SE and at that date amounted to 4.66% (42.990.191
voting rihts). These voting rights are attributed persuant to § 22 para 1
sentence 1 no 6 in connection with sentence 2 WpHG.
