Re: Update on Company’s Central Sales Tax case in the State of Karnataka

We refer to our intimation dated November 1, 2022, wherein the Company had informed regarding the favourable order passed by the Hon’ble Karnataka High Court dated October 14, 2022, by allowing the Writ Petition filed by the Company against the Order passed in 2019 by the Central Sales Tax Appellate Authority, New Delhi (CSTAA) in respect of demand notices from the Commercial Tax Department, Karnataka aggregating to Rs. 764.01 crores (including interest and penalty) for the tax periods April 2006 to June 2017. The Hon’ble Karnataka High Court vide their above Order, had quashed the Order of CSTAA and held that inter-state movement of goods in this specific case were merely ‘Stock Transfers’.

We now wish to inform you that the Company has received intimation on 26[th] September, 2023 that the Tax Department has filed a Special Leave Petition before the Hon’ble Supreme Court against the aforesaid Order of the Hon’ble Karnataka High Court, which is subject to admission.

Please treat the above information as intimation under Regulation 30 of the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
