Tan Chin Hwee — Non-Executive Director

Tan Chin Hwee brings to our Board a distinguished track record spanning global commodities trading, private equity, supply-chain digital infrastructure, and national energy resilience.

Educated at Nanyang Technological University (Bachelor of Accountancy, 1995) and Yale University (MBA, 2003), and having completed postgraduate studies at Harvard Kennedy School, he is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Public Accountant (Singapore & Australia).

Career & Leadership Highlights

  • From 2016 to September 2023, Chin Hwee was the first Asia-Pacific Chief Executive Officer of Trafigura Group, a globally leading commodities and energy trading firm. Under his leadership, Trafigura strengthened its footprint across Asia in energy and commodities trading.
  • Earlier in his career, he established the Asia business of Apollo Global Management via its Singapore office, served as Managing Director of Amaranth Advisors, and held senior executive positions at DBS Bank.
  • He co-founded and currently chairs SGTraDex Services Pte Ltd, a public-private initiative to build a neutral, common-data infrastructure to digitalise and streamline supply chain and trade data flows — enhancing transparency, efficiency and resilience for Singapore's trade ecosystem.

Recent & Current Public-Sector / Energy Sector Roles

• In October 2023, Chin Hwee was appointed to chair Energy Supply Resilience Advisory Panel under the Energy Market Authority (EMA). The Panel's mandate is to guide strategies that strengthen Singapore's energy security and the resilience of its fuel and energy supply chain.

  • Following the establishment of Singapore GasCo in 2025 to centralise natural-gas procurement for the power sector, Tan was appointed to its Board of Directors reinforcing GasCo's leadership with his deep expertise in global energy markets, risk management, and supply-chain resilience.
  • He also serves on multiple advisory and oversight bodies, including: the Climate Impact X Advisory Council; Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS)'s Financial Centre Advisory Panel; and other education, sustainability and public-service committees.
