STATEMENT

It has come to Banco Santander Totta, SA's attention that page 34 of the Portuguese language Report and Accounts for the 1st semester of 2012 had not been translated on page 34 of the respective English version, which therefore was blank. The missing text reads as follows:

"The accounts referring to the first semester of 2012 were not subject to a limited review, nor to a corresponding opinion by the auditors of the Bank."

Accordingly, Banco Santander Totta, SA will publish a new full English version of the Report and Accounts for the 1st semester of 2012 duly amended.
