Retirement and Appointment of Chairman of the Board

Australian Unity Limited wishes to advise that Mr Glenn Barnes has announced his intention to retire as director and chairman of the board of Australian Unity Limited, with anticipated effect on or around 31 March 2016.

The board would like to take this early opportunity to thank Mr Barnes for his valuable contribution to the organisation.

During the period that Mr Barnes has been chairman the company has made significant headway in its strategic and operational development. Concurrent with this the board has undergone significant renewal in alignment with the requirements of the company’s strategic agenda. Further positive developments are anticipated prior to Mr Barnes’ retirement and these will be delivered in an environment aimed at achieving a seamless transition of board leadership.

Mr Peter Promnitz has been appointed as deputy chairman and chairmandesignate of the board of Australian Unity Limited, with immediate effect. Mr Promnitz was formerly CEO of Mercer in Asia Pacific and a member of the global Executive Committee, a role he retired from in December 2012. Since 2012 Mr Promnitz has also held roles as chairman of listed company SFG Australia Limited and chairman for Australia for Marsh & McLennan Companies. Prior to his senior executive role in Asia Pacific with Mercer, his business experience includes a diverse career in financial services in Australia and New Zealand. He has led superannuation, investment, actuarial, financial planning and human resource consulting businesses in both executive and non-executive capacities with a personal focus on clients, diversity and governance. Mr Promnitz is a qualified actuary.
