COMPANY ANNOUNCEMENT 15 JANUARY 2013

AUSTAL APPOINTS CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Austal is pleased to announce the promotion of Mr Greg Jason to the position of Chief Financial Officer.

Mr Jason is currently Austal’s Chief Operating Officer – Asia and replaces Interim Chief Financial Officer, Michael Atkinson. The two will work closely together during a six month transition period.

Austal’s Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Bellamy, said the appointment would ensure current, indepth operational experience was retained in the CFO position and reflected Mr Jason’s financial experience and exemplary performance in leadership roles within Austal.

“Since joining Austal six years ago, Greg has made significant contributions to our business in increasingly senior roles, initially in helping to shape our long term strategies and most recently in the highly successful acquisition and activation of our Philippines shipyard,” he said.

“He already understands Austal at the macro and micro level, and that understanding will be further enhanced by working alongside Mike Atkinson in the months to come. This will enable us to continue to steadily implement our strategic initiatives. We are very pleased to have had such a strong internal candidate to fill this important role.”

Mr Jason joined Austal as Executive Manager – Business Development in 2007. In that role he oversaw a comprehensive review of the company’s activities that was influential in developing Austal’s current strategies. He was subsequently instrumental in implementing two of those strategies, namely:

  • expanding Austal’s international vessel support business through the establishment of Austal’s first European Service Centre in May 2010; and

  • regionalising the company’s manufacturing base for commercial vessels through the acquisition of the Philippines Shipyard Operations.

Prior to joining Austal Mr Jason held finance and commercial positions with large manufacturing and mining companies including Iluka Resources, Western Mining Corporation (WMC) and Ford Australia.
