COMPANY ANNOUNCEMENT 8 JULY 2013

RETIREMENT OF MICHAEL ATKINSON

Senior Austal finance executive Michael Atkinson has announced his retirement following a successful 23 year career with the company. As a result of his retirement, Mr Atkinson has also relinquished his role as Executive Director.

Mr Atkinson joined Austal as Financial Controller in 1990, and held senior finance positions within the business for his entire career. For the past six months Mr Atkinson has been working closely with Austal’s current Chief Financial Officer, Greg Jason, to ensure a smooth transition as Mr Jason moved into the CFO role from his former position of Chief Operating Officer – Asia.

Austal Chief Executive Officer Andrew Bellamy thanked Mr Atkinson for his role in shaping the company’s executive leadership team.

“Mike has a deep understanding of the business, and I am very grateful that he made the benefits of that experience available to me, Greg and others in the senior management team. That insight has certainly helped keep us on the right course,” Mr Bellamy said. “While Mike will no longer have an executive role, Austal will be able to call upon his unique knowledge as the need arises.”

Austal’s Chairman John Rothwell paid tribute to Mr Atkinson.

“Having worked with Mike from before Austal was founded I know his retirement is extremely well deserved. He demonstrated unwavering commitment to the company, truly putting his heart and soul into the business. Through his tireless work Mike earned the respect and friendship of many, many people over the years and I am sure that they would join me in wishing him an enjoyable retirement,” Mr Rothwell said.
