Aurubis AG generated operating earnings before taxes (EBT) of EUR -8
million (previous year: EUR +74 million) in the third quarter of 2012/13.

Based on Aurubis' definition of operating earnings, Aurubis AG generated
earnings before taxes (EBT) of EUR -8 million (previous year: EUR +74
million) in the third quarter of the current fiscal year 2012/13.

Much lower metal prices at the balance sheet date led to losses in the fair
value assessment of derivatives and devaluations of precious metal
inventories. Furthermore, weak copper scrap and acid markets and a lower
metal yield strained the result in the third quarter.

IFRS earnings before taxes (EBT) in the third quarter amounted to EUR -336
million (EUR +8 million in the previous year after adjustments pursuant to
IAS 8) and were mainly driven by falling metal prices and the resulting
inventory devaluations.
