AudioCodes Adds Video Capabilities into its IPmedia™ IMS-Compliant Media Server Platforms
AudioCodes' unified Voice and Video over IP Media Servers Supports Video Conferencing, Messaging, Streaming and Transcoding
Lod, Israel, February 5, 2007 - AudioCodes (NASDAQ: AUDC), a leading provider of Voice over Packet (VoP) technologies and Voice Network products, today announced the addition of video capabilities into its IPmedia™ family of IMS-compliant Media Servers (MRFP's in IMS terminology). The addition of this new offering to the existing voice capabilities, is designed to help service providers deploy and then monetize IP video applications in order to increase their average revenue per user (ARPU) and reduce customer churn. The unified voice and video platforms allow service providers to minimize footprint and save equipment and operational costs.
The newly introduced video capabilities will enable service providers and network equipment providers (NEPs) the ability to provide integrated video and audio services such as video conferencing, video messaging over multimedia messaging service (MMS) and downloading of video clips and content. It will also allow offering person-to-person and service-to-person video streaming of content among other potential applications. Given AudioCodes' strong media processing heritage, the IPmedia product line of media servers will support transcoding and transrating for many types of end devices over cellular, Wi-Fi, and fixed networks.
"AudioCodes has been a market leader in media servers for several years and our products are deployed in the central offices of many tier one service providers in North America, Europe and Asia," stated Ben Rabinowitz, Vice President & General Manager of Session Border Controllers and Media Server Business Lines. "We now enable video applications running on the same robust, carrier grade AudioCodes media servers. We intend to work closely with our NEP partners, value added application vendors and service providers in order to integrate video services with their service creation environments, and deploy video applications and grow revenue."
AudioCodes' IPmedia is a leading media server that offers Audio/Video processing for the media resource function (MRF) component of the IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) architecture as well as non-IMS applications. The IPmedia Video is offered on AudioCodes' media server platforms – IPmedia 3000, IPmedia 5000 and IPmedia 8000. The IPmedia Video supports transcoding, transrating/bit rate adaptation, video re-sizing and video mixing of industry standard video codecs including MPEG4/H.263. The IPmedia Server platforms are highly available and architected to support transcoding and streaming of hundreds of video ports per blade.
