Ad-hoc-announcement transmitted by DGAP. The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Ad-hoc statement of 17 September 2004 AT&S builds second plant in Shanghai In view of the continuing strong growth in several branches of the electronics industry and the resulting increase in demand for printed circuit boards in the high-tech branch, AT&S is now going to start building a second plant at the AT&S Shanghai site, thereby continuing its growth strategy. The second plant will be built immediately next to the first plant, which was opened in December 2002. The decision as to whether AT&S will expand the production capacity in the new factory for HDI microvia or for flexible printed circuit boards, or the respective quantities of each of these will be taken in Autumn 2005 at the latest. The new factory will put its first products on the market during the financial year 2006/07. AT&S’s total investment in the new factory in Shanghai, irrespective of whether flexible or HDI microvia pcb’s are manufactured, will amount to 80 to 100 million euro, spread over three years. Up to the end of financial year 2005/06, AT&S is reckoning on investing a maximum of 10 million euro for the new building. AT&S’s total capital expenditure for 2005/06 derived from this will amount to a maximum of 35 million euro.
