Atria is entering the poultry business in Sweden - Atria to purchase Lagerberg i Norjeby AB, a Swedish poultry business.

Seinäjoki, Finland, 2016-03-11 07:55 CET (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Atria Plc, Company Announcement 11 March 2016 at 8.55 am Atria is entering the poultry business in Sweden - Atria to purchase Lagerberg i Norjeby AB, a Swedish poultry business. Atria is entering the poultry business in Sweden and purchases the entire share capital of Lagerberg i Norjeby AB (Lagerbergs). The company has a production plant and its own chicken-rearing facility in Blekinge, Sweden. Lagerbergs is the third largest supplier on the Swedish chicken market. In addition to its own chicken-rearing Lagerbergs is purchasing chickens from local producers. The transaction will expand Atria's business in Sweden into white meat processing. In Sweden, demand for Swedish-produced chicken has increased steadily in recent years. In 2015, retail sales of poultry meat increased by seven per cent. The acquisition will increase Atria's annual net sales by approximately EUR 30 million.The closing of the deal is subject to the approval of the Swedish Competition Authority. The parties will strive to conclude the transaction during the second quarter of this year.
