Corporate-news announcement sent by DGAP. The sender is solely responsible for the contents of this announcement. —————————————————————————— ATOSS Software AG: Preliminary Results Q1 2005 ATOSS: Long-term investments take precedence over short-term profit maximization Munich, April 22, 2004 – In the first quarter of 2005, ATOSS Software AG, the specialist for software solutions revolving around intelligent human resources deployment, recorded a considerably higher intake of orders in the software licenses area at EUR 1.3 million (previous year: EUR 0.9 million). At EUR 5 million, total sales up to the end of March were slightly lower than the figure posted in the prior year period, representing a dip by 3% (previous year: EUR 5.2). Accordingly, the result was also slightly lower. The operating result (EBIT) came in balanced (previous year: EUR 0.1 million). With these figures, both sales and result are within the expected bandwidth. The cash flow was recorded at EUR 1.3 million (previous year: EUR 1.9 million), while liquid funds amounted to EUR 27.9 million, over EUR 33.6 million in the previous year. In this context, it must be considered that ATOSS made a dividend outpaymennt of EUR 5.7 million at the end of April 2004. In view of the considerable rise in incoming orders over the beginning of the year and an increasing number of concrete project enquiries, the management board is confident with regard to the further business developments. Continued high investments in line with corporate strategy According to the opinion of the management board it would have been possible in the past business year and in the course of 2005 to date to present a better result by merely reducing the all in all very high investment rate (last recorded at 20% of sales). Against the background of the long-term growth strategy, however, the option of short-term profit maximization was dispensed with as a matter of principle. Instead of pursuing such a course, ATOSS has made targeted investments in the development of new products, as well as in sales, marketing and organization. As a result, completely new and innovative technologies in the product area were unveiled at this year’s trade fairs, and met with strong interest. Lively trend in order intake, while major corporations show significantly stronger interest in software license: Outlook positive The first quarter was characterized by gratifyingly high order intakes in the software license area, which were largely recorded towards the end of March and therefore did not show up in the sales figures recorded. The considerable increase in orders at hand as of March 31, 2005, by comparison with the beginning of the year, represents a good foundation for the following quarters. An additional, very positive development is reflected by the significant number of larger projects in the pipeline at ATOSS. A decisive factor for overall success in the ongoing business year will be generating the respective orders out of the many ongoing negotiations. On this basis, the management board anticipates achieving higher sales and results in the 2005 business year. In view of the positive course of developments in order intake – specifically in software licenses – ATOSS expects the second quarter to show an increase over the performance of the first quarter.
