David Webster Appointed Chairman of Athena Resources

13 June 2012: Athena Resources Limited (ASX:AHN) has appointed Mr David Webster as Chairman of the company effective immediately.

Mr Webster joined the Athena Board in December 2011 and this elevation occurs as the company moves to the next stage of development.

Mr Webster’s career in Australian agriculture includes developing an extensive run of farming properties in Western Australia and restructuring the Australian wool industry. More recently Mr Webster has been involved in significant Chinese investments in agriculture and associated infrastructure in Australia. He is currently a director of Australian Wool Innovation Limited (AWI) where he is also Chairman of the Finance and Audit Committee; and he is a director of the Australian Wool Testing Authority Limited.

Mr Webster’s considerable commercial expertise together with many years experience of working with government at the highest level, both in Australia and overseas, will be of substantial value to Athena Resources.

Former Chairman the Hon Andrew Thomson has advised that his remote location and other commitments inhibit him from continuing to make a full contribution and therefore he has decided to retire from the board. Mr Thomson joined the board in June 2008 and became Chairman in April 2010.

The Board thanks Mr Thomson for his many dedicated years of service.
