Astron Donald Project (100% Astron Limited)

Production and Development Activities

Production

During the quarter the Donald project did not conduct any production activities.

Development

During the quarter the progress on the Environmental Effect Statement continued associated with the development of the Donald Mineral Sands project (expenditure as summarized):

Geology and Mining

Mining Lease Application

The mining license area survey has been received and a mining lease application is currently being drafted.

Exploration Licenses

Both tenements (EL 4433 - Donald, EL 4432 – Jackson) have been renewed for a period of two years.

Mineral Processing

Wet Concentration Plant (WCP)

Further testing of alternative items was completed to establish the best selection of equipment for the plant.

Slimes Handling and Disposal

During the quarter a report covering the geotechnical assessment of the proposed tailings disposal and storage has been received. Coffey Mining concluded that the proposed concept was reasonable and provided several recommendations to further improve the concept.

Environmental Effect Statement

The Donald Project EES was on public exhibition during the quarter. 34 submissions were received from the public, including many letters of support for the project. DMS it currently awaiting the appointment of a panel of experts, by the Victorian Government, to review the project and the associated public submissions. It is anticipated that a panel hearing will be conducted in the coming quarter.

Astron Gambian & Senegal Investments

The Gambia Mineral Sands Operation (Astron has a 50% interest in Carnegie Minerals (Gambia) Limited)

Further to the previous announcements with respect to the Gambian mining operations there was no activity for the current period to report.

The uncertainty continues with regard to the mining license and company situation.
