ASTRON LIMITED APPOINTS EXECUTIVE GENERAL MANAGER, DONALD PROJECT

Astron Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Allen Cauvin as Executive General Manager, Donald Project with effect from 14 May 2012.

Until October 2010, Mr Cauvin spent three years working for Iluka Resources where he was the Project Manager of the Jacinth Ambrosia Alliance (an alliance between Iluka Resources and Parsons Brinkerhoff) and was responsible for managing the entire EPCM team that delivered the $390 million Jacinth Ambrosia mineral sands project ahead of schedule and under budget with zero loss-time injuries or major environmental incidents.

At Jacinth Ambrosia, Mr Cauvin was responsible for the definitive feasibility study and all aspects of the EPCM (major infrastructure work, mine development, processing plant and materials handling) through to project completion and close out, and received the Engineers Australia Engineering Excellence Award for Project Management for 2010.

Mr Cauvin has over 23 years of experience in the mining industry in Australia and Africa including a number of major mining project management roles. Most recently he was General Manager, Ironclad Mining, responsible for the development of the Wilcherry Hill and Hercules iron ore projects. He was previously in the South African Army and holds an honours degree in electrical engineering from the University of Natal, Durban. He will relocate from Adelaide to the Donald Project.

Commenting on the appointment the CEO of Astron Mr Hayden Stockdale said: “We are thrilled to secure Allen to project manage the Donald development. He has the perfect mixture of mineral sands experience, project management capabilities, and cultural fit to ensure the Donald Project proceeds efficiently and smoothly. He is a key addition to our team and this appointment is another important milestone in delivering on our plan to get the Donald Project into production.”
