Item 8.01 Other Events.

On October 1, 2015, Assurant, Inc. (the "Company") issued a news release announcing the closing of the sale of the supplemental and small-group self-funded business lines, a proprietary small group sales channel and certain assets of the Company's health insurance business to National General Holdings Corp., effective immediately. A copy of the Company's October 1, 2015 news release announcing the closing is attached as Exhibit 99.1 hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
