Director appointment and Board Committee changes

Ascential plc, (the "Company" / LSE: ASC.L), the international business-to-business media company, today announces that Rita Clifton CBE has been appointed to its Board as an independent non-executive director and senior independent director with immediate effect. She will also join the Audit and Nomination Committees. 

Following Rita's appointment, the Board will comprise four independent non-executive directors, two non-executive directors, two executive directors and the non-executive Chairman.  The composition of the Board will therefore be compliant with the provision of the UK Corporate Governance Code that at least half the Board (excluding the Chairman) should be independent. 

Rita is currently a non-executive director of ASOS plc and of Nationwide Building Society, and is a past non-executive director of Dixons Retail plc. Her background is in branding, customer insight and marketing communication and she was a former Vice Chairman and Strategy Director at Saatchi & Saatchi and London CEO and then Chairman at Interbrand.  She currently also chairs BrandCap, the brand consultancy and Populus, the research consultancy.

In accordance with LR9.6.13, the Company confirms that Rita is a current director of ASOS plc, and she was previously as director of Dixons Retail plc (appointed 1 September 2003, resigned 6 September 2012).  There are no other details to be disclosed under LR9.6.13.
