APN commences search for independent Chair

SYDNEY, April 20, 2012 – The Board of APN News & Media Limited [ASX,NZX:APN] today announced it has commissioned a formal search for an independent Chair following the previously announced resignation of Mr Gavin O’Reilly as Chairman and Director of APN.

Independent News & Media PLC (INM) announced overnight Australian time the resignation of Gavin O’Reilly as an INM executive Director and Group Chief Executive Officer.

APN announces that Deputy Chairman, Mr Ted Harris, will stand in as acting Chairman until a new Chair is appointed.

Acting Chairman of APN, Mr Ted Harris, said: “Gavin O’Reilly has made a significant contribution to APN since his appointment to the Board in 2004, and guided the company through the GFC and the subsequent down-turn in media markets.

“The Board expresses its appreciation of the contribution he has made to the Company and wishes him well in his future endeavours.”

As a priority the APN Board has appointed an Executive Search firm to conduct the search and fill the role of Chair in a timely manner.

The Board is committed to appointing an independent Chair with the relevant blend of experience and skills to take the company forward.
