Acquisition of Nickel Project Database

  • Acquisition of global nickel project database to potentially build portfolio, to complement ongoing exploration at the Rocky Gully Nickel Project, Albany Fraser Belt, WA.

  • The project database covers advanced and/or strategic assets in regions identified as highly prospective for Nickel Sulphide projects, mainly Australia, Africa and South America.

  • Consensus analysts forecast a significant Nickel market deficit and subsequent Nickel price increase of circa 30% during the 2014-2018 period and 15% over the long term.

  • Negotiations have commenced with various parties to evaluate and potentially acquire additional suitable advanced and/or strategic projects.

PLD Corporation Limited (ASX:PLD) (“PLD” or “the Company”) advises it has acquired a global nickel project database to potentially acquire suitable projects and build a portfolio of Nickel assets, to compliment the company’s current exploration activities at the Rocky Gully Nickel Copper Project, Albany Fraser Belt, WA.

Consensus analysts forecast a significant Nickel market deficit and subsequent Nickel price increase of circa 30% during the 2014-2018 period and circa 15% over the long term. The consensus price forecast is over and above the recent 30% surge in the Nickel price in 2014.

The database has been compiled by internationally recognised Nickel experts and comprises a comprehensive list of prospective regions, projects and strategic opportunities, appropriately ranked according to a detailed criteria. The key opportunities are largely advanced Nickel sulphide opportunities in Australia, Africa and South America. The Company will consult the ASX with regards to any implications pertaining to Chapter 11 if a material transaction results.

The database and potential portfolio will complement the company’s current exploration at the Rocky Gully Nickel Copper Project which covers ~1,200km[2] and is located in the Albany Fraser Belt, WA. The company is exploring for Magmatic Nickel Copper Deposits, similar to the NovaBollinger deposit operated by Sirius Resources NL (ASX:SIR) in the same geological belt.

Phase I of exploration identified two (2) high priority and numerous priority Nickel Copper targets, which were identified from a review of historical exploration data including the appropriate geological, geochemical, geophysical signatures at M19 and M20.

Phase II is underway with the approval of a Program of Works (POW) which includes a drilling program of up to 3,000m at the M19 and M20 prospects at Rocky Gully Central, and the progression all other targets at Rocky Gully East, West and North.

The Albany Fraser Belt is considered analogous to the prolific Thompson and Cape Smith Belts in Canada, being host to multiple Proterozoic Magmatic Nickel-Copper Sulphide deposits. The analogy has been demonstrated by the recent discovery of the Nova-Bollinger Nickel-Copper Deposit, by Sirius Resources Limited (ASX:SIR).
