Woulgan® Biogel market approach

Studies show clear beneficial effects of SBG in Woulgan® Biogel

  • The positive effect of SBG in healing of diabetic foot ulcers was covered in the 2014 Journal of Diabetes Investigation
  • Classification as advanced medical device opens unique opportunities for Woulgan® versus other gels in the wound market

Zykova et al 2014;

«Macrophage stimulating agent soluble yeast b-1,3/1,6-glucan as a topical treatment of diabetic foot and leg ulcers: A randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled phase II study.»

Male patient with venous leg ulcers. Treatment with Woulgan Biogel for 3 times a week for 1, 5 months. The patient refused wearing compression and healing haltered after initial response. He continued with Woulgan any way and ulcers continued to improve over the next 4,5 months

Woulgan® choices and plan going forward

  • The Evaluation Agreement with Smith & Nephew outlines a process in which the product is to be tested in the market and where the parties subsequently will meet and discuss the potential for a long term agreement
  • This process should be clarified around year-end

Most importantly:

It is no doubt this product is working very well and that it has a wide area of use – meaning we should ensure it becomes a commercial success

The threat is if it becomes locked in by exclusive agreement with a wrong partner!

Woulgan® choices and plan going forward cont….

Remember the history:

  • 2010: Do we have a technology?
  • 2011: Yes, we have a technology!
  • 2012: We have a product!
  • 2014: We have an approved product that works very well!

2015 - :We will make Woulgan to a commercial success

How?....

• Plan A: We are committed to the S&N process making a partner agreement in a large part of the world

…but if it doesn't make sense……

• Plan B: Launch in limited areas and in parallel work with alternative partners globally and regionally

There are a number of alternatives!

Remember: Process will benefit from increasing commercial references and experience in selected markets!
