Appointment of experienced Chief Executive Officer

The board of Archer Exploration is pleased to announce that Mr Mike Hatcher has today accepted the position of Chief Executive Officer. Previously the Director of Geology Ghana and the Chief Geologist Operations for Newmont Mining Corporation Australia (“Newmont”), Mr Hatcher is a geologist with nearly 40 years experience in exploration, operations and business development roles. He joined North Flinders Mines (predecessor to Newmont Corporation) in 1992, initially based on site at the Tennant Creek Operations, and subsequently in executive management positions based in the Adelaide head office of Normandy Mining and then Newmont.

Mike was involved in the multi‐million ounce expansion of the Pajingo, Martha and Jundee gold mines in Australia and Newmont’s operations in Ghana. He was also involved in the discovery and subsequent development of the Greenbushes tantalum and lithium mining operations.

For the 5 years up to 2008, Mike was the Director of Geology and involved in the development of the 500,000 ounce per annum Ahafo Gold Mine in Ghana. Whilst in head office in Adelaide, he played a key leadership role in the implementation of a structured business plan for exploration throughout the Australia region that lead to a more focussed and cost effective exploration program.

As CEO Mike will assume responsibility for management of the company under the guidance of the existing Archer board and will drive the company’s business development and exploration activities. This means that Mr Greg English will transition from the role of Executive Chairman to Chairman. The Board is pleased that Mr English’s skills have not been lost to the Company and his transition back the role of Chairman will allow the Company to continue its current programs.

The appointment of Mr Hatcher signals a smooth transition of leadership from Mr English to Mr Hatcher. Appointed as Executive Chairman in July 2008, Mr English’s leadership has seen the Company successfully navigate the recent turmoil in financial markets and the Company is now well placed to continue to enhance shareholder value through the development of the Company’s advance copper and gold projects. In these achievements, he has been assisted by a hard working and enthusiastic team of employees and contractors.

The Board has been mindful of the need for a longer term growth strategy and in Mike Hatcher are pleased to have attracted a well qualified successor to Mr English to lead the Company through the next stage of expansive growth.

As 1 July 2009 the Company had $4.97 million cash in bank and a program to actively develop the Company’s advanced copper and gold projects as well pursue other business development opportunities.
