On 1 December 2016 A.P. Møller - Mærsk A/S announced that its subsidiary Maersk Line A/S (Maersk Line) and the Oetker Group had reached an agreement for Maersk Line to acquire the German container shipping line Hamburg Südamerikanische Dampfschifffahrts-Gesellschaft KG (Hamburg Süd). The acquisition was subject to final agreement and regulatory approvals.
Today, the parties have signed a Sale and Purchase Agreement. The agreement is subject to board approvals, which are expected during Q2 2017 following which further details in respect of the acquisition will be communicated.
Maersk Line still expects to close the transaction end 2017.
