ANZ 2008 Annual Result – Excel template
ANZ will announce its 2008 Full Year Result on Thursday, 23 October 2008.
To assist market participants in analysing the result, ANZ provides an Excel version of key tables with the Full Year Result announcement. This will be available on ANZ’s website at http://www.anz.com/aus/shares/finance/default.asp shortly after the result has been lodged with the ASX.
Traditionally, ANZ also provides a version of this template ahead of the results containing prior period numbers; this is now available through the above link.
As advised at the 28 July trading update, in line with emerging global accounting practice ANZ now treats credit impairment losses on derivatives as a deduction from non-interest income rather than through the provision for credit impairment line in the Income Statement. The 1H 08 and 2007 results have therefore been restated on a comparable basis.
The total provision for credit impairment expense in 1H08 has been reduced by $299m offset by a $299m reduction to non-interest income, with no adjustment to profit. This reclassification reflects a reduction in the individual provision relating to a US monoline insurer and a mining company, along with a small reduction in the collective provision related to derivatives across the Markets portfolio. Similarly, $45m has been charged to non-interest income in 2007 with the offset in provision for credit impairment.
