Re: Primebroker Securities Limited
In relation to the recent media coverage in connection with the appointment of a receiver to Primebroker Securities Limited, we have been advised by one of our directors, Mr Geoffrey Lord, that entities with whom he is associated have granted a charge over shares in The MAC as security under a margin lending facility with Chimaera Financial Group, which is an associate of Primebroker Securities Limited.
The MAC has not been provided with details of the margin lending security arrangements however we can confirm that Mr Lord owned either directly or through entities associated with him, 4,598,611 fully-paid ordinary shares in The MAC, which represent 3.17% of The MAC’s issued share capital.
We have been advised by Mr Lord that some or all of these shares have been registered in the names of either ANZ Nominees Limited or Fortis Clearing Nominees Pty Ltd pursuant to the security requirements of the margin lending facility. We have been informed by our brokers that a parcel of shares registered in the name of Fortis was sold on-market yesterday.
As far as we are aware there are no other margin lending arrangements in place in respect of share parcels held by other directors or their associates, including the 59.8% holding of Marley Holdings Pty Ltd.
Further details on Mr Lord’s position will be released as soon as information is received.
