Rick Allert and Patty Akopiantz invited to join AMP Limited Board

AMP Limited Chairman Peter Mason today announced Mr Richard (Rick) Allert and Ms Patricia (Patty) Akopiantz will be invited to join the AMP Limited board as non-executive Directors, following a successful merger of AMP and AXA Asia Pacific Holdings (AXA APH).

Assuming shareholders vote in favour of the proposal, and subject to court and regulatory approvals, it is expected the new Directors will join the Board immediately after the implementation of the merger.

Mr Allert has been a Director on the AXA APH board since 1995 and Chairman since 2000. He is also Chairman of Western Desert Resources Limited and former Chairman and Director of Coles Group Limited, Southcorp Limited and Voyages Hotels & Resorts Pty Ltd.

Mr Allert has had a distinguished career as a company director and chartered accountant and brings to the AMP board extensive experience in wealth management.

Ms Akopiantz has been a Director of AXA APH since April 2006 and is currently a non-executive Director of Energy Australia and a Member of Chief Executive Women. Ms Akopiantz is a former Director of Coles Group Limited and Wattyl Limited.

Ms Akopiantz has senior management and consultancy experience in retail and consumer industries both in Australia and overseas.

Mr Mason said Mr Allert and Ms Akopiantz bring extensive experience in wealth management, corporate strategy and senior management, and would be valuable additions to the AMP Limited board.

AMP Limited also wishes to advise that Mr Richard Grellman has announced his retirement as a Director of AMP Limited and will not be standing for re-election.

Mr Mason said the board greatly appreciated Mr Grellman’s significant contribution to the company, having served 11 years as a Director, and wished him all the best for the future.

Mr Richard (Rick) Allert AO

Mr Richard (Rick) Allert, aged 68, has been a Director of AXA APH since September 1995. Mr Allert became Deputy Chairman in 1997 and was elected Chairman in April 2000.

Mr Allert is also Chairman of The National Mutual Life Association of Australasia Limited (NMLA) having first joined NMLA in 1992, Chairman of The Aboriginal Foundation of South Australia Inc, Major Performing Arts Board of the Australia Council and Western Desert Resources Limited.

Mr Allert is Deputy Chairman of Gerard Lighting Group Limited, a Director of Genesee & Wyoming Australia Pty Ltd and Cavill Power Products Pty Ltd, and a member of the Australia Council for the Arts.

In addition, Mr Allert is a former Chairman and Director of Tourism Australia, Coles Group Limited, Southcorp Limited, AustralAsia Railway Corporation and Voyages Hotels & Resorts Pty Ltd, and Deputy Chairman of Adelaide Football Club Ltd.

Ms Patricia (Patty) Akopiantz

Ms Patricia (Patty) Akopiantz, aged 47, has been a non-executive Director of AXA APH since April 2006.

Ms Akopiantz is also a Director of NMLA and National Mutual Funds Management Limited, subsidiaries of AXA APH, and a non-executive Director of Energy Australia and a Member of Chief Executive Women.

Ms Akopiantz was previously a Director of YWCA-NSW, Coles Group Limited, Wattyl Limited and the Australian Graduate School of Management.

Ms Akopiantz has extensive senior management and consultancy experience with McKinsey, and is a former General Manager of Marketing at David Jones and Vice President of a US apparel manufacturer.
