Election of the Chairman of the Board of AB Amber Grid
At its meeting of 24 May 2016 the Board of AB Amber Grid as its Chairman for a four-year term elected Mr Nemunas Biknius, Director of Strategy and Development UAB EPSO-G.
The new Board of AB Amber Grid was formed in accordance with applicable recommendations by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), NASDAQ Vilnius and other universally acclaimed international organisations, and in accordance with good corporate governance practices.
All the Board members are experts in their respective fields with many years of experience in strategic planning, project management, finance and commerce.
"AB Amber Grid is an organisation boasting a highly skilled workforce and facing a number of important tasks for the future, consisting in the implementation of the strategic project for the construction of a Gas Interconnection Poland-Lithuania (GIPL), putting in place conditions for the regional gas market to function within an integrated pan-European gas network. In addition to the aforesaid tasks, the Company is faced with the tasks of a continuous optimisation of its operations, implementation of best practices and quickly responding to any changes in business environment – so a few coming years will be very demanding," the newly elected Chairman of the Board listed the main tasks facing the Company.
Please be reminded that on 26 April 2016 the General Meeting of Shareholders of AB Amber Grid elected the following persons to its Board: Nemunas Biknius, Director of Strategy and Development and Rimvydas Štilinis, Director of Infrastructure, UAB EPSO-G; Saulius Bilys, CEO and Vytautas Ruolia, Commercial Director, AB Amber Grid. To the position of an Independent Board Member the Meeting elected Nerijus Datkūnas, Management Consultant.
UAB EPSO-G is a holding company which holds controlling stakes in the natural gas transmission system operator, AB Amber Grid, the electricity transmission system operator, LITGRID AB, and Lithuania's energy Resources exchange operator, UAB Baltpool. EPSO-G implements Lithuania's gas and electricity infrastructure strategic development goals, projects for the integration into the EU energy markets, and seeks to implement the EU Energy Union goals. 100 percent UAB EPSO-G shares are 100 percent controlled by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Lithuania.
