algoWatt partner del progetto VPP4Islands per virtual power plant e smart energy nelle isole

• Il progetto ha ottenuto un finanziamento comunitario complessivo di Euro 6,1 milioni (Euro 0,4 milioni come quota parte riservata ad algoWatt)

algoWatt, greentech solutions company quotata sul mercato telematico azionario (MTA) di Borsa Italiana, comunica che in data 22 e 23 ottobre si terrà il kick-off meeting del progetto di ricerca VPP4Islands (Virtual Power Plant for Interoperable and Smart isLANDS), del quale è partner, per l'integrazione dei sistemi rinnovabili nelle isole con sistemi complessi di Virtual Power Plant (VPP).

Il progetto è stato finanziato dalla Commissione Europea nell'ambito del programma Horizon 2020, con un contributo complessivo pari a Euro 6,1 milioni di euro circa (quota spettante ad algoWatt pari a Euro 0,4 milioni circa), suddiviso tra i componenti di un Consorzio formato da 2 grandi aziende, 1 DSO (operatore della distribuzione), 6 PMI, 3 università, 2 RTO (organizzazioni di trasmissione regionale), 3 comuni insulari e 2 organizzazioni no-profit.

VPP4Islands punta ad accelerare la transizione verso l'energia intelligente e verde e ad aiutare le isole a sfruttare il potenziale di efficienza energetica e gli approcci innovativi di stoccaggio, a promuovere la partecipazione attiva dei cittadini e a diventare autosufficienti nel settore energetico, riducendo al contempo i costi, le emissioni di gas serra e la dipendenza dall'olio combustibile pesante per la produzione di energia, creando nuove attività intelligenti, crescita e posti di lavoro qualificati a livello locale.

Per raggiungere questi obiettivi, il progetto VPP4Islands propone soluzioni disruptive basate sul concetto di Digital Twin (DT), sistemi di immagazzinamento virtuale dell'energia (Virtual Energy System Storage, VESS) e Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) per rivoluzionare il concetto di Virtual Power Plant (VPP) e costruire comunità energetiche intelligenti. Per convalidare e valutare le soluzioni sono previsti casi d'uso significativi con l'impiego ed il coordinamento di diversi asset energetici in due isole principali (Formentera in Spagna e Gökçeada in Turchia). Le soluzioni qualificate VPP4Islands saranno poi replicate in altre tre isole (Bornholm in Danimarca, Bozcaada in Turchia e Grado in Italia), al fine di avviare piani energetici sostenibili ed intelligenti atti a promuovere su larga scala la sinergia e la flessibilità della combinazione di fonti di energia rinnovabile, integrate in un portafoglio di risorse unico. algoWatt valorizzerà la partecipazione al progetto consolidando le proprie competenze scientifiche e tecnologiche nel campo delle soluzioni green per la gestione integrata intelligente delle risorse energetiche.

algoWatt partner in the VPP4Islands UE project for virtual power plant and smart energy in the islands

• The project obtained a total EU grant of Euro 6.1 million (Euro 0.4 million as a share reserved for algoWatt)

algoWatt, GreenTech Solutions company listed on Borsa Italiana's electronic stock exchange (MTA), announces that the kick-off meeting of the research project VPP4Islands (Virtual Power Plant for Interoperable and Smart isLANDS), of which it is a partner, for the integration of renewable systems in islands with complex Virtual Power Plant (VPP) systems, will be held on 22 and 23 October.

The project has been funded by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 programme, with a total grant of around Euro 6.1 million (algoWatt share of about Euro 0.4 million), divided among the members of a Consortium made up of 2 large companies, 1 DSO (distribution systems operator), 6 SMEs, 3 universities, 2 RTOs (regional transmission organisations), 3 island municipalities and 2 non-profit organisations.

VPP4Islands aims to accelerate the transition to smart and green energy and to help islands exploit the potential for energy efficiency and innovative storage approaches, promote active citizen participation and become self-sufficient in energy, while reducing costs, greenhouse gas emissions and dependence on heavy fuel oil for energy production, creating new smart activities, growth and skilled jobs locally.

To achieve these objectives, the VPP4Islands project proposes disruptive solutions based on the concept of Digital Twin (DT), Virtual Energy System Storage (VESS) and Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) to revolutionize the concept of Virtual Power Plant (VPP) and build smart energy communities. To validate and evaluate the solutions, significant use cases are planned with the use and coordination of different energy assets in two main islands (Formentera in Spain and Gökçeada in Turkey).

The VPP4Islands qualified solutions will then be replicated in three other islands (Bornholm in Denmark, Bozcaada in Turkey and Grado in Italy), in order to launch sustainable and smart energy plans to promote on a large scale the synergy and flexibility of the combination of renewable energy sources, integrated in a unique portfolio of resources.
