Alcidion expands ExtraMed customer base with Queen’s Hospital Burton

Highlights:

  • Alcidion secures 3-year agreement with Queen’s Hospital Burton for its patient flow management software, ExtraMed’s Inpatient Flow Manager (IPFM), valued at $630k over 3 years

  • Queen’s Hospital Burton is part of University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust, one of the largest NHS trusts in the UK

  • Agreement represents the first new contract for IPFM following the acquisition of ExtraMed in April 2021

  • Agreement awarded as a direct result of benefits achieved from deployment at Royal Derby Hospital that successfully reduced length of stay and enhanced patient care

  • Both hospitals were existing users of Alcidion’s Patientrack platform, demonstrating the potential to deliver strong commercial growth from the existing customer base

Melbourne, Australia – Alcidion Group Limited (ASX:ALC) is pleased to announce it has further expanded the use of ExtraMed’s IPFM to Queen’s Hospital Burton, following its acquisition in April 2021.

IPFM is Extramed’s patient flow management software that enables frontline staff to make informed decisions based on real-time visibility of patient flow. It was successfully deployed at Royal Derby Hospital in 2013, prior to the acquisition. As a direct result of using the ExtraMed solution, staff at Royal Derby Hospital have successfully reduced lengths of stay and enhanced care for patients, resulting in the deployment to additional sites.

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB) will deploy the ExtraMed Patient Flow system to its Queen’s Hospital Burton, with a total contract value of approximately $630k over three years.

Both hospitals were existing users of Alcidion’s Patientrack solution, which highlights the potential for commercial and operational growth amongst the Company’s existing customer base via expanded product discussions that leverage synergies across Alcidion’s product suite.

Under the agreement, Alcidion’s technology will be used by thousands of staff at Queen’s Hospital Burton, helping them to manage a patient journey more efficiently across the hospital, from admissions and ward transfers through to discharge.

Gill Ogden, Director of Nursing at UDHB, said: “Staff are really excited about this technology coming to Burton, where we expect immediate differences for discharge and overall patient flow, with lots more functionality we will explore over time. Clinical teams at Royal Derby Hospital have really valued having information at a glance and the improved communication that ExtraMed has supported”.

UHDB is one of the largest NHS trusts, serving a population of more than one million across Derbyshire and Staffordshire and providing clinical services in 48 specialties via two acute and three community hospitals. Queen’s Hospital Burton joined the Trust in 2018.

Healthcare professionals in Derby first started using ExtraMed’s patient flow software in 2013 before the system was extended to General Practitioners, social care and community nursing in 2017. It has helped staff to improve the patient experience, shorten length of stay and ensure measures are in place to help prevent unnecessary readmissions. ExtraMed’s patient flow system is expected to be deployed at Queen’s Hospital Burton in early 2022.

Alcidion’s Managing Director, Kate Quirke, said “We are pleased to see this validation of the benefits that can be realised through the adoption of patient flow solutions. The finalisation of this agreement after our acquisition of ExtraMed confirms our belief in the value that can be delivered to our customers from having access to these types of solutions”.
