Jacqueline Hey to join AGL Board

AGL Energy Limited (AGL) today announced that Ms Jacqueline Hey will join the Board as a non-executive director with effect from 21 March 2016. Ms Sandra McPhee has also advised that she intends to retire from the Board after ten years of service with effect from 30 June 2016.

Ms Hey has enjoyed a successful executive career, including holding various regional and global executive positions with Ericsson, prior to becoming a full time company director in 2010. She will bring a strong commercial understanding to AGL, including with regard to harnessing technological change to drive improvements in the customer experience, and a keen interest in stakeholder engagement.

She is currently a non-executive director of Qantas Airways Limited and a member of its Audit Committee. She is a non-executive director of Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Limited and is Chairman of its Change & Technology Committee and a member of its HR & Governance Committee. Ms Hey is also a non-executive director of Australian Foundation Investment Company Ltd (AFIC) and will retire at the end of her term in June 2016 as a non-executive director of Special Broadcasting Service (SBS).

AGL Chairman, Jerry Maycock, said: “We look forward to welcoming Jacqueline Hey to the Board and believe her range of skills and experience will be valuable in the rapidly changing industry environment.”

Sandra McPhee joined the AGL Board in October 2006. Ms Mcphee was one of the foundation directors when AGL listed on ASX in October 2006 following its demerger from the merged Alinta/AGL entities. She has been a member of AGL’s People and Performance Committee and the Audit & Risk Management Committee and Chair of AGL’s Safety, Sustainability & Corporate Responsibility Committee. Under Sandra’s leadership, the Safety, Sustainability & Corporate Responsibility Committee oversaw significant improvements in AGL’s safety and environmental performance.

Career summary

Jacqueline Hey is currently a non-executive director of Qantas Airways Limited and a member of its Audit Committee. She is a non-executive director of Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Limited, Chairman of its Change & Technology Committee and a member of its HR & Governance Committee.

Ms Hey is also a non-executive director of Australian Foundation Investment Company Ltd (AFIC) and will retire at the end of her term in June 2016 as a non-executive director of Special Broadcasting Service (SBS).

Between 1987 and 2010, Ms Hey held various executive positions with Ericsson including managing director of various Ericsson entities in Australia and New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Middle East. Her career with Ericsson included finance, marketing, sales and leadership roles culminating in a position on Ericsson’s global executive committee.

While in the UK, Ms Hey participated as a member of the Prime Minister’s working committee on the advancement of women’s issues in the UK and Africa.

She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Melbourne University and is a nonexecutive director of the Melbourne Business School.
