Fortis, Royal Bank of Scotland and Santander ( hierna " de banken") hebben vandaag kennis genomen van een formeel bod van Barclays voor de overname van ABN AMRO.

Een ontmoeting met ABN AMRO was voorzien voor 14.30 vanmiddag. Tijdens deze ontmoeting zouden de banken hun plannen toelichten zodat ABN AMRO deze zou kunnen vergelijken met het voorstel van Barclays.

LaSalle Bank maakt onderdeel uit van de plannen van de banken. In het licht van ABN AMRO's besluit om LaSalle te verkopen aan Bank of America, willen de banken inzicht hebben in de voorwaarden waaronder deze verkoop plaatsvindt. De banken hebben vandaag om deze informatie gevraagd. Daarom vinden de banken het niet passend de ontmoeting met ABN AMRO vandaag te laten plaatsvinden.
