ÅF signs contract with ABB

ÅF has, through its Engineering Division, won an order from ABB for the plant design of facilities at the kraft unit at Stora Enso's plant of Hyltebruk.

For ÅF the assignment extends to approximately 20,000 consulting hours. Work will be conducted from ÅF's office in Norrköping. The assignment also includes consulting services from the ÅF's Process Division.

The project as a whole involves, in the first instance, the replacement of existing steering and monitoring equipment with a modern process control system. This new system will lead to more efficient production and improvements in the monitoring, control and regulation processes, as well as paving the way towards a better working environment and enhanced operational availability.

"The reason we chose ÅF as our partner on this occasion was the company's familiarity with our operations at Hyltebruk and ÅF's track record in the field of plant design," says Hans Stenberg, ABB's Customer Services Manager for Stora Enso Hylte AB.

ÅF will be responsible for all plant design work, the production of logic and functional diagrams, process and function descriptions, operational instructions and risk analysis assessments.
