Richard Beard has been appointed EVP Head of Transportation & Places at AFRY

Richard Beard has been appointed as the new Executive Vice President and Head of Global Division Transportation & Places, at AFRY, effective January 19, thereby joining the Executive Team. Richard brings over 35 years of international leadership experience from the consulting and engineering sectors, with a distinguished track record in strategic business development and leading transformational change.

Richard joins AFRY from Ramboll, where he held several senior leadership positions, including Managing Director for Global Transport and Global Buildings. His expertise lies in refining and executing business strategies, as well as building collaboration across borders to drive profitable growth. Richard is a proven change leader, recognized for his ability to build high-performing, unified teams.

Richard will take on the new role as of 19 January 2026, succeeding Tuukka Sormunen who has held the interim role as EVP Head of Global Division Transportation & Places since October 1 st, 2025. Tuukka Sormunen will remain in his previous position as Head of Segment Public & Commercial Places.
