Aéroports de Paris May 2014 traffic figures

In May 2014, Aéroports de Paris saw 8.1 million passengers; an increase of 1.7% on May 2013. 5.6 million passengers travelled through Paris-Charles de Gaulle (+3.2%) and 2.5 million through Paris-Orly (-1.6%).

Traffic in May 2014 was mainly affected by a calendar effect due the Spring holiday dates for schools in the Paris area which this year were from 12 to 28 April, as opposed to 27 April to 12 May in 2013.

  • International traffic (excluding Europe) was up by 2.8%, buoyed by growth in the following destinations: North America (+7.2%); the Middle East (+6.2%); Asia-Pacific (+2.6%) and Latin America (+0.7%). Only two destinations were down: Africa (-0.6%) and the French Overseas Territories (-1.0%);
  • European traffic (excluding France) increased by 2.9%;
  • Traffic within France fell 3.8%;
  • The number of connecting passengers was up sharply (+7.4%). The connecting rate stood at 22.7%, up by 0.9 points.

Since the beginning of 2014, Aéroports de Paris passenger traffic has seen growth of 3.8%, with a total of 36.3 million passengers. The number of connecting passengers is up by 3.6%. The connecting rate has reached 24.4%; i.e. a decline of 0.1 points.

Passenger traffic at TAV Airports, 38%-owned by Aéroports de Paris, increased by 9.3% in May 2014 and has risen by 13.9%since the beginning of the year.

Taking into account Madinah traffic on a like-for-like basis from January to June 2012 as well as Zagreb for 2013, total TAV Airports passenger traffic would have risen by 11.0% since the beginning of 2014 and by 10.5% over the last 12 months.
