Aéroports de Paris May 2012 traffic figures
In May 2012, Aéroports de Paris passenger traffic decreased slightly by 0.6% compared to May 2011, with a total of 7.6 million passengers handled including 5.3 million at Paris-Charles de Gaulle (-0.1%) and 2.3 million at Paris-Orly (-1.8%).
- International traffic (excluding Europe) increased slightly by 0.5% with good performance in Asia-Pacific +5.1% ; The Middle East +4.9% ; Africa +4.2% and Latin America +2.1%. In contrast, the French Overseas Departments and Territories decreased by 6.4% and North America by -5.4%, following a sharp reduction in capacity of flights offered by some airlines.
- European traffic (excluding France) was almost stable (+0.1%).
- Traffic within France decreased by 4.6%. The presidential elections and the presence of bank holidays in midweek have "blocked" some leisure traffic. Traffic has also been affected by tough comparable base from last year as traffic was up by 4.4% in May 2011.
- The number of connecting passengers was down by 4.8%. The connecting rate decrease by 0.5 point at 22.5%.
Since the beginning of the year, passenger traffic increased by 2.2 % with a total of 34.8 million passengers handled. The number of connecting passengers was up 6.0%, resulting in a connecting rate of 24.5% up by 0.9 point.
