Paris, 13 May 2011
In April 2011, Aéroports de Paris passenger traffic increased by 27.6% compared to April 2010, with a total of 7.6 million passengers handled including 5.2 million at Paris-Charles de Gaulle (+26.9%) and 2.4 million at Paris-Orly (+29.1%).
In April 2010, air traffic was disrupted by the ash cloud coming from the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjöll. Traffic at Aéroports de Paris was shut down during five days, resulting in a loss estimated at around 1.4 million passengers. Excluding the volcano effect, April traffic would have increased by 3.2%.
Over the first four months of 2011, passenger traffic increased by 9.7% year-on-year. Without the ash cloud impact, the result would have been an increase of 3.7%. The number of connecting passengers grew by 7.1%. The connecting rate came in at 23.7% against 24.3% over the first four months of 2010.
