Aéroports de Paris April 2011 traffic figures

Passenger traffic

In April 2011, Aéroports de Paris passenger traffic increased by 27.6% compared to April 2010, with a total of 7.6 million passengers handled including 5.2 million at Paris-Charles de Gaulle (+26.9%) and 2.4 million at Paris-Orly (+29.1%).

In April 2010, air traffic was disrupted by the ash cloud coming from the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjöll. Traffic at Aéroports de Paris was shut down during five days, resulting in a loss estimated at around 1.4 million passengers. Excluding the volcano effect, April traffic would have increased by 3.2%.

  • International traffic (excluding Europe) increased by 17.8%. Traffic improved on all routes: French Overseas Departments and Territories +25.1%; North America +24.6%; Latin America +23.9% ; Asia/Pacific +20.0%; Africa +12.0% and the Middle East +8.4%.
  • European traffic (excluding France) was up 37.8%, driven by the Schengen area (+37.5%). Great Britain and Ireland grew by 32.3%.
  • Traffic within France increased by 26.9%.
  • The number of connecting passengers rose by 20.5%. The connecting passenger rate was up 20.7% against 21.6% in April 2010.

Over the first four months of 2011, passenger traffic increased by 9.7% year-on-year. Without the ash cloud impact, the result would have been an increase of 3.7%. The number of connecting passengers grew by 7.1%. The connecting rate came in at 23.7% against 24.3% over the first four months of 2010.

Aircraft movements

The number of aircraft movements increased by 20.2% in April 2011 year-on-year (with +20.7% at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and +19.0% at Paris-Orly). Since the start of the year, the number of aircraft movements has risen by 7.7%.
