Another month of one million passengers for Bologna Marconi Airport. It is the sixth time in a row during 2024. After May, June, July, August and September, in fact, even in October monthly passengers exceeded the one million threshold, reaching 1,004,010, with an increase of 6.4% on the same month of 2023. It is a record for October, a month in which the Marconi had never recorded such a high number of passengers.
In detail, passengers on domestic flights recorded the greatest increases in October (247,070, +7.3% compared to October 2023), but passengers on international flights also recorded excellent results (756,940, +6.1% on October 2023). Movements also grew, with a lesser extent, to 7,217 (+3.2%), while freight showed a significant increase, equal to 4,253 tons (+10.3%).
The "most flown" destinations in October were: Catania, Barcelona, Tirana, Palermo, Cagliari, Istanbul, Paris CDG, Brindisi, Bucharest and Madrid.
In the period January-October 2024, total Marconi passengers were over 9 million, 9,338,332 to be precise, with an increase of 7.9% on the same period of 2023, while movements were 66,985, with an increase of 5.7% on 2023.
Freight in the first ten months of the year were 38,151 tons, with an increase of 11.1% on 2023.

Aeroporto Guglielmo Marconi di Bologna, classified as a "strategic airport" in the centre-north area of the National Airports Plan prepared by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, recorded in 2023 around 10 million passengers, ranking as the seventh biggest Italian airport by number of passengers (Source: Assaeroporti – Aeroporti2030). Located in the heart of the Emilian food valley and the automotive and packaging industrial districts, the airport has a catchment area of about 11 million inhabitants and around 47,000 companies, with a strong propensity to exports and internationalisation and with commercial expansion policies to Eastern Europe and Asia.
As for airport infrastructure, the airport has among its strategic objectives in the next few years an important development plan that mainly concerns the expansion of the terminal, particularly in the parts of security checks and gate area. The company's aim is to make Bologna Airport one of the most modern and functional in Italy, an important gateway to the city and region.
