ASX RELEASE ASX code: ABV

7 August 2019

ABT receives an order for Failsafe brakes from Minecorp in Chile

  • ABT has received an order from Minecorp-Chile

  • Chile and Latin America represents a new international market for ABT products

  • Brakes are to be fitted to trucks used by Orica in their Chilean mining operations

  • Strategy implementation of customer diversification continues to make good progress

  • Provides ABT the potential to supply our entire product range to a new and substantial market where the operations and terrain require innovative and specialised braking solutions

Advanced Braking Technology Limited (ASX: ABV) (‘ABT’ or ‘the Company’) is pleased to advise that it has received an order for brakes from Minecorp-Chile on behalf of SALFA Chile, a General Motors vehicle dealership.

This order achieves a strategic objective of further diversifying our customer base to which we provide innovative braking solutions.

Order received from Minecorp-Chile

The Company has received an initial order for Failsafe brakes from Minecorp-Chile (via its parent entity, Importadora Automarco Limitada) on behalf of SALFA, which will be installed on the Isuzu NPS 4X4 truck. This is an existing ABT product application with no further engineering required.

The end user of these Isuzu NPS Canter trucks will be Orica Chile S.A. who will use the trucks in two underground mine operations in northern Chile. The Isuzu NPS 4X4 was first introduced to the Chilean market by General Motors in April 2019 and the ABT Failsafe brakes will be fitted to some of the first trucks delivered into Chile.

ABT CEO, Mr John Annand commented: “this order is further demonstration that our Failsafe range of braking products are valued around the world and have a place in vehicles in a range of applications where safety, maintenance and cost efficiencies are paramount. Our team is committed to exploiting these opportunities on a global scale.“

Details of the order are as follows:

Customer: Minecorp-Chile S.A., via its parent entity, Importadora Automarco Limitada Services: Supply of Failsafe brake kits for the Isuzu NPS 4X4

Advanced Braking Technology Ltd (ACN 099 107 623, ABN 66 099 107 623) Email: [email protected]

The value of this first order is for approximately $150,000 and includes Failsafe kits which will be held in stock. This initial order will be further supplemented by the ongoing supply of spares and consumables.

This is an initial order from Minecorp-Chile, as it is expected that General Motors dealers will have further demand for Failsafe as the Isuzu NPS 4x4 Canter is marketed as a new truck application within Chile. In addition, Minecorp-Chile is in early stage discussions with other potential customers for a ABT Failsafe solution across other truck and light duty vehicle applications.

ABT CEO, Mr John Annand stated “we are very pleased to have received this order from Minecorp-Chile, an existing distributor within our global network, and we look forward to continuing our relationship to develop additional opportunities within Chile. Chile and the broader Latin America represents a significant growth opportunity for ABT as we look to supply innovative braking solutions, not only to mining contractors like Orica but other global mining companies where the safety of their people and equipment are paramount.”

Minecorp-Chile Director Mr Sebastián Dibarrart commented “this initial order is the first of what is expected to be an ongoing supply requirement for ABT products into the Chilean mining vehicle market. Whilst this order is for the Failsafe product, further opportunities will be pursued for the entire suite of ABT products, including Terra Dura. Minecorp-Chile looks forward to working with ABT to exploit these opportunities in what we know is a growing, but under serviced Chilean market”.

Mr Dibarrart added “CODELCO Chile, the largest copper producer in the world with the largest underground copper operation, the El Teniente mine, together with the transformation of its Chuquicamata mine into an underground operation including hundreds of kilometers of tunnel development, will undoubtedly be an ideal end user of ABT Failsafe brakes”.

This order follows on from the recent announcements that ABT is providing brake design services to both the defence industry for the Thales Australia Hawkei Project and the waste management industry for Cleanaway Pty Ltd. ABT also recently received an order for Failsafe brakes that will be used at the Rio Tinto operated Oyu Tolgoi mine in Mongolia and announced that it had released the updated Terra Dura brake solution to the market. Most recently, ABT has announced that it has received an order for Failsafe brakes from the Lendlease Samsung Bouygues joint venture for use within the civil construction industry.
